Investigating Homo Sapiens.
(2 drabbles)
It seems so simple, yet the simplicity is a conundrum in itself.
How can so much liquid come from just one person?
The pure volume threatens to drown her; a whirlwind of crimson threatening to suck her into its depths.
Maybe its irony.
It is, after all, half her blood, is it not?
It seems to be some sort of satirical divine retribution.
The moisture that seeps through her clothes - her skin – infecting her very marrow; is partly her own.
In killing her burden;
She’s killed herself.
He’s never quite understood it.
Why he’s always hated noise.
Why he’s always preferred cold things.
Why he’s always loved that silent, still type.
They never understood it either; forever leaving.
When all he’s wanted was someone to stay with -
Forever.
And now?
Now in the silence, in the dark;
Both so tangible, wrapping around him..
Wrapping around him like the quiet, chilled, so very pliant legs that hold him down.
Now he knows.
And as he falls upon her, caressing frozen immobile lips, tinged indigo –
He smiles.
