I Wonder….

By: Amy Olson

Sitting by the window,

I look out at these plains

Blanketed with mem’ries

Both sweet and full of pain

It makes me ache and makes me smile

I want to wait here for a while

I’ve never seen such beauty

As is in the thorny rose

Hurting those who touch its stem

Gracing those who don’t

What’s given’s rarely tempting

What’s tempting’s rarely given

Though we all live

When we die, what have we liven?

If eyes are the window to the soul

Then why are souls so hard to see?

I may really love you

But how do I know you love me?

I want to live just for tomorrow

And enjoy now just today

But can this ray of sunshine

Wash past mistakes away?

I don’t know why I write now

The words just set me free

My pencil now becomes lazy

It’s time for me to leave…
