Two winters, two springs
Two winters have witnessed my ardour and dare ;
It was a dull fire of amour and grief.
Two winters have witnessed the gales of despair ;
It was a violent tempest of fate’s mischief.
As the old phantom of reticence haunts me,
The requiem of shyness plays its sad cries.
But a goddess of wonder echoes in thee :
The lyre of life’s tunes, its charms and its sighs.
But two springs have witnessed the enchanted gleam ;
It was the dazzling beauty of my beloved,
But two springs have witnessed my ehtereal dream ;
My ascent to our passion, in hope I roved.
