"...when violets bloom in autumn, epidemics or death will follow within the year."

I was controlled energy
Livewire burning out of flesh
Sitar string round waiting necks, but
It was all in play

I was pain approaching, violet
Wings outspread and tempered will
I could beat the best of men, but
It was all in play.

Titans, our criss-crashing arms
Deadened nerves left their wake
I could gladly take that pain, for
It was all in play

Then the violets bloomed in autumn
Wine-dulled minds fumbled with blades
Smoke billowed into the night and
Ended all our play

Now I am but marionette
On leather strings I hang and bleed
Spirit slowly breaking down, a
Victim in their play

Nightmares rife with evil men
I dread my bed of flow’ry chains
Damn the violet key that names me
Victim in their play

Death elusive, vengeance, too
So out of reach, deliverance
Masters go and come to make me
Victim in their play

Someday I’ll escape this cage
And loose myself, unleash my wrath
Violet blooms in autumn herald
Death: my final play
