arena

Laughter bellowed like a herd of cows
mooing a bluesy tune,
across a pasture of rippling waves
in a forgotten sea.

One table in particular,
square with rounded edge.
A red cloak spilled
around the pitted core.

A man with tinted glare,
solemn and quiet,
murmured a low, sad tune
that sprinkled the room
with a drowning moan.

His song-full melody
danced among the herd,
a pit for sorrows to fall.
The long babble of the cows
grew wider every stanza.
Soon the room was swallowed
in monotone.
