Rhys watched her hurry away from them down the hall. She had nice legs.
"She knew," he muttered, following Deiter into the hall.
"How could she know?" Darcy asked, walking on Rhys's right, just a step behind him. "Javier is never seen."
"And he didn't mention being found out. He didn't know." Rhys nodded courteously to the buxom blonde making eyes at him from behind her desk. He pictured her naked in the backseat of his limo. Yes, she'd do for a little after work distraction. He made a mental note to invite her after the meeting. Rhys frowned and turned his attention back to less pleasant, but certainly more important things. Was Javier losing his edge? Was it time to take the man out, before he became a liability?
"What would you like me to do, sir?" Darcy asked, apparently reading his mind.
"Nothing, yet," Rhys said at last. Javier was one of his greatest assets. It would be a shame to lose him. "Let's see what he comes up with tonight. Then I'll decide."
"Forgive me, sir," Darcy said in that tone that Rhys had come to loathe, "but is it really in your best interest to allow Javier further access to Miss Neale? If she is playing him as well - "
"Are you insinuating that I'm being played here?" Rhys asked coldly. Darcy was silent for a moment.
"No, sir," he replied, his thunderous voice ground down to a barely audible growl. "You clearly have the upper hand with this one."
