The Promised Land

With the joy

There still comes tears

With fresh air

Slight suffocation

With sunshine

Rain

I attempt to roam

Only to find I am constrained

By the fears and frustrations

I cannot face

Refusing to become the darkness

I am trapped within it

Falling through it

Growing weaker

Never knowing

When I’ll hit rock bottom

Never knowing

When I’ll be consumed

Someone save me

Someone catch me

Someone free me

Please, take me away

To the Promised Land

Where I may know pleasure

Without the pain

Where I may feel the sunshine

Without the rain

Where I may step into the light

Without fear of the shadows

Deliver me from this evil

Kill my misery

Surrender me unto the Promised Land

So that I may truly be free
