Chapter 1:
Elizabeth
Foreword Their lives were normal, until one day when that all changed. All it took was one day and their lives were changed forever. Together Elizabeth, Avalon, Lorna and Rebecca must learn to control their powers and to only use them for the side of good. Read on to find out what happens to these brave girls on their quest to find and defeat the Dark Ones. Now they weren’t always the best of friends at times, but the necklaces brought them all closer together…
Thirteen-year-old Avalon walked up to the front door of a house that belonged to her friend fourteen-year-old Elizabeth’s house.
“Lizzi! Open up the door! It’s Avalon!” yelled Avalon, as she knew Elizabeth was on the computer listening to some type of music.
“Coming!” yelled Elizabeth running form her upstairs bedroom to the front door. Avalon heard something fall down the stairs. Then Elizabeth appeared at the front door rubbing her backside.
“You fell down the stairs again didn’t you?” asked Avalon trying not to laugh.
“Yeah, I’m telling you the stairs have something against me… and the cat does too. Isn’t that right Bastet?” said Elizabeth kneeling down and petting her little kitten.
“Okay then… well I was wondering if you wanted to come swimming with me. Lorna and Rebecca are already there.” said Avalon backing away from Bastet, as she was allergic to cats.
“I don’t know because I do still have to work on my fan fiction you know…” started Elizabeth when Avalon shot her an annoyed look. “Fine, just let me write my parents a note of my whereabouts then I need to get changed and THEN I will go to the beach with you.”
Avalon eyed her suspiciously then nodded her head yes in reply. Elizabeth ran up the stairs as fast as she could. “Oh, can I play with your snake?” asked Avalon running up after Elizabeth.
“Sure, but don’t let her out of the cage again, it took me forever to find her last time you did.” replied Elizabeth nearly tripping over her cat again on her way to her bedroom. Avalon stifled a laugh.
“Did you update any of your fan fiction yet?” asked Avalon looking at all of Elizabeth’s books on her bookshelf.
“Yeah, I updated two of them and no one has reviewed! I’ll be back in just a second I have to change. And don’t take the snake out.” replied Elizabeth grabbing her bathing suit and running into the bathroom. Avalon checked to see if Elizabeth was really gone before walking over to the snake’s cage.
“She doesn’t have to know that I took her out…” said Avalon reaching into the cage where the sleeping reptile was laying.
“I knew I could never trust you with a reptile in the house and a rule saying that you can’t take it out.” said Elizabeth appearing in the doorway. Avalon looked sheepish.
“I wasn’t going to do anything. Honest.” replied Avalon quickly walking over to the door. “Come, we’re killing daylight here and please don’t go and swim for the entire day again. Remember last time? I swear you are a fish.”
Elizabeth rolled her eyes. “I wish because once I get into the water I never want to get out. So I hope you guys were planning on spending the entire day there.” replied Elizabeth grabbing her towel and Avalon’s arm and started out the door, meeting up with her parents who were just getting in the door at the moment.
“Hello Elizabeth, where might you be going?” asked Elizabeth’s mom.
“Oh just to the park, we’re going swimming again.” replied Elizabeth trying to squeeze past her dad, but she wasn’t getting away that easily.
“To the park? Why don’t you just go in the pool? Not a scummy lake.” said Elizabeth’s mom with a discussed face on.
Elizabeth rolled her eyes. “Because the pool makes me smell like chlorine afterwards and besides, I like to watch the fishes swim underwater. Now if you will excuse us we have a lake that is calling our name,” said Elizabeth walking out the door and picking up her bike.
“All right, well be back before dark or you are grounded.” said her mom walking outside dumping her armload of groceries into her husband’s arms.
“Yes, yes, yes. And no talking to strangers too, I know the rules. Good bye.” said Elizabeth jumping on her bike and riding away, leaving Avalon to try and catch up.
“Took you guys long enough, we’ve been waiting forever and you know Rebecca won’t go in as usual so, Elizabeth, I shall let you do the honors of throwing her in again.” said fourteen year old Lorna as Avalon and Elizabeth pulled up to the lake.
“Rebecca! I’ll give you to the count of ten to get in the water before I throw you in!” yelled Elizabeth taking her clothes off revealing her usual one-piece red swimsuit. Fourteen years old Rebecca let out a little squeak and went running for the water.
“I’ll get you for this!” Rebecca yelled back on her way into the water. Elizabeth went running after her kicking her shoes off along the way.
“Wait for me!” yelled Lorna running into the water with a splash. Avalon stayed back for a few moments but then started walking up to a rocky ledge where everyone always jumps into the water off of.
“Ah! A sea serpent!” yelled Elizabeth, who was in the deeper part of the water by then. Screaming she started to swim away from the water snake but then got caught in a seaweed patch.
“Elizabeth I thought you got over your fear of snakes by now.” Said Lorna swimming over to where Elizabeth was franticly trying to get her feet untangled from the seaweed that had placed itself on her legs.
“Hey Elizabeth wait! Don’t throw that piece away yet!” yelled Avalon taking her clothes off revealing a new light blue one-piece bathing suit, before running and jumping off of the small cliff into the water. Landing with a large splash in the water below.
“What are you guys doing? There is still a snake in here if you didn’t seem to notice.” said Rebecca starting to swim over to the other three.
“What is so special about this piece of seaweed Avvi?” asked Elizabeth holding out the seaweed to Avalon, while treading water. Avalon gave her an annoyed look again and started to examine the seaweed.
“Ha, look at this. Very perdy if you ask me…” said Avalon untangling a necklace from the seaweed and handing it to Elizabeth who grabbed it and started to look it over.
“You are right, it is very perdy. And look at the pretty water or tear drop it has on it.” agreed Elizabeth pointing to the diamond shaped charm on the dark blue chain, which a very detailed teardrop shape on it outlined with some sort of jewel engraved on it.
“I feel sorry for the person who lost such a beautiful piece of craftsmanship, put it on and let us see how it looks.” said Lorna. Elizabeth did as Lorna suggested and put it on without a care in the world. Little did she know that with that necklace on now, she would have the power to control water until the day she died…
so... what'd ya tink? its my first crack at a novely type thing so please be nice! (flames accepted though, as long as you give me a good reason for doing so)
