Kate’s Story

Prologue

Kate Surack is an ordinary girl, well as ordinary as anyone with a powerful secret can be. Ever since the age of five, she had displayed proof of her special power that no other child or adult had ever had. Kate of course, did not know she caused all of these things to happen around her, for she was very young when it started, but she knew that she was different from the other kids. I mean to say, what other kid carried such a great power as Kate’s?

Her parents found about Kate’s unique power when she started kindergarten. Right after her parents had dropped her off at her class, Kate had gotten upset by her parents almost departure and had begun screaming. Her parents kept on walking until all of the kids were screaming. They turned around and found Kate staring wide eyed at a fire that had just started for no apparent reason in the art section of the class room. All of the children were running around crying and the teacher tried to get them all to safety, but Kate just stood there with a petrified look on her pale face. Luckily, no one was hurt in the small fire but Kate was scared for life. Though neither she nor her parents knew how such a small child could do it, they all knew one way or another that Kate’s distress had caused the fire. Even five year old Kate knew that she had done it, and at that very moment of realization, she dubbed herself an official freak of the world.

Her parents did everything in their power to make their precious daughter as happy as possible, trying to rid their girl of her evil powers. It seemed to work; Kate had become one of the most spoiled girls on the west coast. Everything she ever desired, she got. Though she enjoyed getting the toys and the attention from her parents, she had no friends and was considered an outsider at any school she went to. The little girl never had one friend to her name.

But this is where I come in. My name is Micah Daron and I am here to tell the story of a girl who had the most extraordinary power in the whole world. Little Kate Surack had the power to bring forth all of the natural disasters in the world; a power which could cause the demise of our world as we know it. And this is her story.
