I remember you.

Your blue eyes were always so wide, so full of wonder.

You still marveled at the little things,

When the butterfly flew out of that flower

And the sun caught it.

I still have that moment captured in my heart.

You were so young.

I still can’t truly understand you’re gone

I’ll never see you smile again,

I’ll never hold close your little body in a spontaneous hug.

We used to dance to crazy music and not care what they thought

We used to sing and laugh and shout silly nonsense to the stars

Sometimes I dream and hear your voice,

How it always had a hidden smile caught inside.

You once told me that it was very dark at night

But I never knew how right you were.

I never understood how dark it could really be.
