and your words
wove their way
into other’s thoughts
till they came out as words
that conjured up
the image of your face
reminding me of everything
that shapes and makes me.
and the snowflakes fell
from a blanketed sky
glowing with the warmth
like the love in me
rising to the surface
just waiting to come out.
these wisps of glimpses
of your bolted emotions
melt quickly, but not before
another one takes its place
falling and gracing
my lashes, my cheeks, my lips.
and it’d make me numb
if you said these things
too much,
and I’d be so bothered,
flustered and uneasy,
if they never came to rest
on cashmere, on denim
that covers me
from everyone else.
even the way they fall
reminds me so much
of the way you stood
unfaltering in my eyes
revolving around you
to see in a different light
the shades that I’d only seen
layered underneath
my own changing skin.
my breath frosts the air
bringing to sight
the crystalline secrets
you hang so high
above everyone else’s:
they’re just for me.
