Ecstasy - Poem - Jan '04

The blushing pink pill dissolves,

Moulding into my weary body,

Invading every cell, every broken thought,

As it silently overthrows reality,

Refashions rational judgement into gibberish.

In a second nothing changes.

Music croons habituallyin the background,

People proceed to laugh and chatter unknowing,

Your ice blue eyes bore into me, waiting,

I'm still standing, still breathing.

In a minute everything changes.

Evanescent lights melt subtlely together,

Dark magic out to mystify,

The same exhilarating confusion,

As when you are driving too fast,

Down a road framed with lights.

The beat of the music gets louder,

The sound suffocates me,

Mercilessly piercing my ears,

Surrounding me with its almighty power.

I hear a far off hysterical laugh,

Culprit unrecognisable in the sickly haze,

Everyone is gazing baffled and bemused at me,

The one laughing my insane head off.

My muscles relax, my brain unwinds,

And the floor seems to rise threateningly.

I'm falling so slowly toward it,

Desperately grasping for your arm of safety,

You disregard my advance with revulsion,

My behaviour unforeseen and deplorable.

Mutters of distaste echo throughout the alien room,

But I'm falling; falling ever so slowly.

Then I land senselesslyinto euphoric oblivion.
