Courage on a String

I carry my Courage on a string,

Fastened safely 'round my neck

Were I ever to take it off,

I'd never get it back.

I look over the edge, afraid.

Then I grasp my courage tightly,

And know I have nothing to fear.

I carry my Courage on a string,

Fastened safely 'round my neck

Were I ever to take it off,

I'd never get it back.

A risk isn't worth

Unless you've got something to loose.

The only thing I have to lose is my soul.

Common Sense says don't do it,

But Pride gets in the way

I carry my Courage on a string,

Fastened safely 'round my neck

Were I ever to take it off,

I'd never get it back.

I look both ways before I jump,

I Hope Nobody sees.

But I lost my Hope

Long ago

Memories fade,

For the string 'round my finger

Was lost longer ago than Hope

I carry my Courage on a string,

Fastened safely 'round my neck

Were I ever to take it off,

I'd never get it back.

Just before the pain ends,

The final String breaks,

And my Courage goes flying,

Hitting the ground and breaking into

A Billion pieces.

I close my eyes, and Hope the

Pain doesn't return.
