"For the love of God, Montresor!"
"Yes," I said, "for the love of God!"
But to these words I hearkened in vain for a reply. I grew impatient. I called aloud --
"Fortunato!"
No answer. I called again --
"Fortunato!"
No answer still.

Too much time to pass today
Just like the day before and before
All the puzzles have been solved
All the shows have been watched

Before and before and before and before
All the books have been read
All the songs have been sung
And now I just want to fade

Fade, fade, fade away
Like a shadow lost to a
Moonless winter eve
A MacArthur of light

My eyes have seen what they want to see
Past their prime and made redundant
They pack up and slowly walk into the night
As my constant view of these four walls grows dim

These four walls that box me in
Built from the outside brick by brick
But I mixed the mortar and I laid the foundation
And I sat flaccid as you sealed me in with

My Amontillado
