Chapter 1-The Beginning

Not many of the beings who plagued the earth fathomed the destruction that was going on beneath their very feet. Few who roamed the Earth could imagine what creatures lurked in the shadows of their precious cities. Only a select few were chosen out of the great masses to possess the devastating knowledge that was known, simply, as the vampire race.

In history, they were shown as a pale-skinned people, with sunken features and dark hair. While most of them fit this descriptive stereotype, there were a small number of vampires who strayed from the usual gaunt façade. Adriana was one of those vampires.

It is not known where the first true vampire adorned from, but many suspected that he was placed on the Earth to expand the race. For this, he was known as the Sire. He created the blood-sucking mass of creatures that quench their thirst with murder. Every vampire knew of him, knew of his legend, of his dynasty of murderers.

The Book of Legends was written by the early victims of this cursed race, the ones who would remain undead for eternity. It held the history and creation of the race, the stories passed down from generation to generation. The Book spoke mainly of a girl, birthed into human blood but reborn into the world of immortality. It told us that this girl would be the key to the rise of the entire vampire race. She alone would have the power to lead them into victory over humans, lycans, and any other race who opposed their authority. Then, and only then, would the vampires gain enough glory to rule the world.

Until that time, the seething race hid in the shadows and the darkened alleyways. They slithered into their underground hideaways, hissing maliciously at the burning sun. They lie in wait, in their blackened cells, for the day that will bring them to the surface.

Adriana was born into a small family of humans. Altogether there were three children, Adriana being the youngest- two girls and a boy. Her mother was a slim housewife with a clean conscience and a good heart. Daddy was a hard worker, nothing more than a humble mechanic. They barely made enough money to keep themselves alive; however, they were a close-knit family with old-fashioned values. They were raised on chivalry and manners, working all their lives on the farm residing on the adjacent property. Most importantly, they were happy.

She was small for her age, even in her infant years. She had strawberry blonde hair with ice blue eyes. She was stunning from day one, even the doctors at the hospital said so; a beautiful child with a beautiful spirit.

She was not only beautiful, but she was poised, graceful, and talented. When she took up gymnastics at the tender age of five, she was a natural. Plaques, awards, and medals littered her walls, fading with tarnish throughout the years. Shelves upon shelves in the basement were filled with videos of her flawless performances. Her fluid movements and graceful executions were part of what the Sire admired in her.

Many qualities drew the Sire closer into her world. She never succumbed to peer pressure in her teen years. She had a strong mind, a strong will. Even as a young child she had immense leadership qualities. She made her parents proud; she made a name for herself.

No one would have ever suspected that Adriana would make her mark on the world as an immortal.
