Well, despite what it says about this poem on my website, this is from the point of view of my friend Matt, and his him talking to our mutual friend, Caitlyn. Unfortunately for Matt, Caitlyn was just experiencing puppy love, and he was....well....I think you can guess.
Not long ago my darling, you said you loved me true,
And now that my love's grown, you tell me that we're through.
What was it I did to make you with to break with me?
Tell me what the cause is, because I cannot see.
Chorus:
Runaway, run away,
Leave my heart behind.
So strong you couldn't stay,
Never mind what words may bind.
I see it written in your eyes, shining clear and blue--
Your white wings spreading inch by inch gave the needed clue.
Feathers gleam like ivory, and is it fear that's hid within?
I know what made you turn from me--and is such love a sin?
(chorus)
I loved you with my heart and soul, which have become the chains
That bind you to my side each day, although you jerk and strain.
They say that this is better, that I do not live a lie,
But gods my heart is breaking as you turn away and fly.
(chorus)
