He sat and watched me for hours
Without giving away his desire.
Collected, he knew of his power,
As my dry throat was burning like fire.
The music around me pulsated,
As I danced along to the beat.
Around midnight, my strength had abated,
But I couldn't sit down in the heat.
The door to the alleyway beckoned,
And I saw my admirer move.
But he was much more than I'd reckoned,
As the next fifteen minutes would prove.
In the back of my skull buzzed the silence
Of the cool air that tickled my arms.
I sensed his demand for compliance,
To see past the dark to his charms.
For now my watcher was nearing,
And I, just a simple, young thing,
Wasn't sober enough to be fearing
The fangs that approached my lifesblood's spring.
He drank of me deeply and slowly;
His hands held more grace than a cat.
Although his soft touch shocked me coldly,
I wanted none else after that.
He'd drank all that he had needed,
But I kept him from leaving me by.
To hold me all night he acceded,
And just before dawn he did fly.
Now lonely I live, ever yearning
For the vampire's kiss once again.
In fire my torn heart is burning,
For to forsake this bright world of men.
