You

You’re my reason for living

The reason I breathe

The reason I stand back up

When life shoves me down

The reason I wake up each morning

And go to sleep each night

But you don’t get it

You don’t see

Just how much you mean to me

You look right past me

You look right through

The feelings I’m trying

To show to you

It isn’t right

It isn’t fair

I want a chance

But you just don’t care

I look at you

You look at me

But it’s not the way

It used to be

You used to smile

With your eyes

But now you scoff

And feed me lies

You used to laugh

You used to care

Now it’s as if

You’re not even there

You look at me

I look at you

But you don’t get it

You see right through

This transparent image

I’ve comprised

To hide myself

From all the lies

All your pain

You push on me

Let me free, boy

Can’t you see

You’re tearing me down

Clipping my wings

And I’ll never know

The greater things

What it’s like to fly

What it’s like to sing

You keep me trapped

Away from everything

To taunt and tease

Lie and ignore

What will you do

When I’m not here anymore

When I’ve gone to a place

Where you cannot go

When I learn all the things

You didn’t let me know

When the lies all come out

The secrets revealed

And the pieces are picked up

And I’ve become healed

Will you still be there

In your own little world

Will you have found yourself

Another innocent girl

To taunt and to tease

To lie to and ignore

To keep from her things

And Whom you’ll never adore

But you’ll still lead her on

Give her just enough hope

To keep her with you

And not let her cope

With all of the things

You’ll soon put her through

And you won’t know why

She doesn’t want to stay with you

I hope you fall off your throne

And break your neck

And maybe then

Before your final breath

You’ll smile at me

Like you did before

And apologize

But say no more

Our eyes with meet

And you’ll open your mouth

But in the end

The words won’t come out

You won’t get to say

Just how sorry you are

And you won’t let me explain

How we’ve parted so far

And I won’t get to hear you

Beg for another chance

Maybe, please

For one last dance

But the thing that hurts

Hits me right to the core

Is the truth of the matter

You can’t hear me anymore

So you won’t get to hear me

Tell you the truth

That through all your lies

I still loved you
