He is everything that I want to be
until he pulls the covers over us
maybe I never knew him at all.
His face like a sunset sky
all blues and reds, dark horizons
mellow nightime whispers
echo inside my head
and ring clear to my heart;
walls that crumble, a battlefield
that was closed for business
until a learned lesson is lost.
He is everything that I am,
what I hate to be, but can't let go;
the mirror image that shattered,
my pieces cutting me,
glorious red pain swells and falls.
He loves me for everything that I am-
every scar, every crack that bleeds,
the desperate whisper, assurance
his fears caught into mine,
our cuts run just as deep,
my tears are sacred to him.
They are alone in their darkness,
something just as deep as my own
They can only see me,
my darkness that attracts
They look for something that is free,
but I have nothing left to give.
