Winding Petals of Regret

I look down,

Eyes closed,

Knife in my trembling hand,

Old and worn and cold,

The eloquent rose,

Dipping towards oblivion,

Wilting under times caress,

Thorns born from the anguish,

The petals fall,

Tears run free,

Pale skin,

Withered stem,

Bruised and torn,

Both we are,

One weathered by life,

One weathered by strife,

Both at their end,

One natural,

One foreboding,

Winding petals of regret,

Flowing tears of despair,

Thorns parry,

Blade's point ends,

Betrayal is betrayal,

Wherever it may be,

The rose and I can see,

In the ending soliloquy,

The rose has a better life.

Oblivious to love,

Bereft of despair,

It is born, blooms, falls,

Another takes its place,

Another face,

Another heart,

Another bruise,

Another scar,

Winding Tears of Regret….
