First Kiss

Do you remember your first kiss?
Under the white and pink cherry blossom,
On the first day of spring.
Your knees were weak, and your mouth was dry,
And you couldn’t form a single sentence;
No matter how hard you tried.
You puckered up your lips, and closed your eyes;
Just praying that you wouldn’t miss.
Hands held in each other’s grip,
Swinging them with the breeze
As if to appear so carefree.
Then leaning in; noses bump,
And in the chaos; lips touch.
Pulling back, your cheeks were burning red.
Eyes shyly downcast,
You twisted the toe of your shoe into the dirt.
Then smiling coyly at one another,
Before running off as you were called home.
