Rainy Day Man

It's always when the rain comes
My mind slows down, my troubles come haunting
I can't blame myself all the time,
But there's no one else.
When my characters fall asleep,
And my words don't fit my rhyming scheme,
Can someone take the rain away?

Hiding in the alleys of apathy,
The drops of doubt trickle down my face,
Mingling with the tears long ago cried
Over me, over them, and over you.
When I just want your loving embrace,
And to see that flickering smile on your face,
Will you take the rain away?

On the way home in the church van,
I remember, it rained that night.
But it went away as I slept in your loving arms,
And you didn't even try to wake me.
Now and then, the storms still come,
And I need you; the only one
Whose love takes all my rain away.
