Dark Shadows

The dark shadows consume me.

The light is fading fast.

I'm not as strong as I say to be.

So how much longer can I last?

The mountains are still standing.

The waves still crush upon the sand.

I felt no true comfort.

Until you took my hand.

"I'll never let you go," you said.

That I thought was true.

But I can't believe that fact,

That I believed in you.

You let me down.

You let me fall.

But even without you,

I will stand tall.

I will land on my feet.

I will accept my fate.

I will find my light,

and somehow diminish my hate.

It hurt when I hit the ground.

You wouldn't believe the pain.

And what makes it worse is,

The shadows are coming back again.
