1 The sun slowly sinks closer to the horizon, where the sky and the land meet.

An elaborate farewell in a million crimson rays, the dusk is bittersweet

The sun goes and sheds its light on the other side of the world,

Leaving me and many others in a certain comfortable darkness,

A temporary blindfold with the promise of dawn

It is only minutes now until the light is completely gone

I could chase after it, to be in constant light, but I find myself content to watch,

Unhindered by all but a quiet radio and the hum of the mosquitoes, I am in rapt fascination

To the dimming of the world and the crickets taking up their tunes,

I sit watching the sunset in my quiet isolation.
