Why must I be the strong one?

Why must I be the one to smile?

Why must I be the one to say "It's okay"?

Why can't I be the one held tight?

Why can't I be the one to cry on someone's shoulder?

Why can't I be the one who hides?

Why must I be the shield?

Am I not human?

Does no one believe I have tears that have yet to be shed?

Does no one believe I can be afraid?

Does no one believe I need to be protected?

That my walls crumble and eventually fail?

Well I do, and it's destroying me.
