Old Maid's Lament

(And I come back to myself)
Got get me some food
Ham sandwich and Arizona tea
Old, but still good.
Like me.

(Never entirely in myself)
Every day I play the game
Work, flirt, talk, read
I know that I do it all exactly the same
Is it my fault I can't find anyone who sees?

(I see them in themselves)
One day I'll find him
I've been saying since my teens
Since then edging along the rim
Work and laugh and love and see--
Unseen.
