Kelpylion’s Renga,—Dark Days
28 January 2006
Houston, Texas
(5,7,5)
Nothing but gray skies,
Light suffused no shadows throws,—
Dark this cavern deep.
(5,7,5)
Dragonfly flits 'bout,—
Does it feel arthritic pain,
When hawk snaps its back?
(5,7,5)
Roses have all gone,—
There's no smell of pink or red,
Just brown detritus.
(5,7,5)
Forward one quick step,—
Backward all a lifetime hoped,—
Where is gain or loss?
(5,7,5)
With a smile of warmth,
Like hot cocoa on cold days,
Love can sunshine bring.
A.N. Inspired by Kelpylion’s poem, “Thoughts on Haiku,” story id 2096304.
