Sick With the Frown
By Lindsay Holt
Sadly, I seem to be sick with the Frown;
Might be the worst case of Frown in the town.
Terrible thing, to be wearing a Frown...
When you get it, and wear it,
You pass it around.
I don’t want to bother, or be a bore,
I hate this disease, it’s such a chore!
I’d rather be giving you something less sad;
More good than bad –
More joyous and glad!
But I’m sorry to say life has got me down
So don’t look at me or you might get a frown
And if you do see one, leave it where it lies;
A frown contains nothing but sorrowful sighs.
But then, if you see something better on the ground,
Like a frown flipped around, maybe upside down,
Go ahead, pick it up, and look at it well
Wear it around so that others can tell.
With your Smile right in place, right where it should be,
Come over to my sickbed, come and visit me.
You’ll see me slouching with my Frown on my face
Looking gloomily out into space.
You’ll brighten the room when you walk in the door;
For a Smile is always the perfect cure.
That Frown of mine will hastily flee
As your Smile spreads
From you
To me.
We can talk and laugh, what a wonderful day
Enjoying our smiles in every way!
Then the next day I too willgo all over town
To spread our Smile to those with the Frown.
