Flower Bud

At first she is ugly. A green pearl surrounded by a jester’s collar. Dark green lines cross at the middle, forming a star with a drop of gold. People pass her by, and look, but no one really sees at all.

But inside there is so much more. She blooms out from her green shell with petals of white and pink. Now she is free from her prison. Now she is noticed by all.

But that brilliant color only lasts a while. She turns old and brown, then falls. Or the wind blows her off her tree and takes her to other places. And no one sees her at all.
