Why does it hurt so much?

To have the person you love acknowledge you exist,

But they don’t do a thing about it.

To have the person you love be by your side,

But in your heart, you know that they’re miles away.

Why does it hurt so much?

For the person you love to look your way,

But you know they’re not looking at you, but someone else.

For the person you love to walk away,

But they don’t stop to wait for you.

Why does it hurt so much?

To see how happy the person you love is,

And how much you’re suffering without them.

To see that they love someone else,

And they never told you the truth about it.

Why does it hurt so much?

To tell how much you love them,

And have them lie to your face.

To tell them how you’ll always care about them,

But they don’t give a damn about you.

Why does it hurt so much?

It’s because you’re afraid of losing them, even though you’ve never had them to begin with.

It’s because you love them with all your heart, even though they’re compelled to break it in two.

It’s just because…love hurts.
