4th of July
I see green gold and red,
Blue and purple from my bed,
Cross a black velvet sky on this night.

I see children laughing,
Lovers walking,
Couples dancing, best-friends talking,
And a tear slips down my cheek tonight.

I remember not so long ago,
You and I both watched that very sky.
I wonder why,
If you hadn't left me,
Would my smile be here now?

So I'll sit,
And stare.
Really not care,
I'll see rainbows of color,
Flashes of light,
And I'll look at those colors..........
Green, gold and red,
Blue and violet from my bed,
Streak across a black velvet sky tonight.
