Be born

Budding leaves

Life’s light rain, mounting sun

White-patched sky

The rainbow crosses

And melts the meadow

Roses bloom

Violets take shape

The baby grass begins to grow…

Be alive

Rich, green leaves

Arid air, bright yellow sun

Clear skies

The flood of colors

Already there

Fully flowered crimson

Sapphire, lilac, pink

The giant green hovers over all…

Be dying

Scarlet leaves

Great gusts, forgotten sun

A sunset sky

Fire burns

Away the trees

Auburn, orange, brown

The flames slowly darken

The paling grass turns to ash…

Be dead

All leaves gone to somewhere else

A seraph’s snow, hidden sun

Fair skies of heaven’s haze

A cold, white blanket

Covers all that lived

The peaceful purity

Calms the dead

Icicles pray over the grass’s grave…
