Chapter Five
An unwelcome awakening
Deamon didn’t dream that night as he woke up to the late morning light that spewed through his window. Everything was quiet which worried him as he shuffled out of bed shuddering as he put his feet on the cold floor. That when he heard it Juliana was on a rampage then it click he was in his room not but Kirin. He knew what Juliana’s rampage was about now. He rushed out of his bed chambers to find Juliana screaming about Kirin.
“How the hell did a human get into our house?” She growled as she swung her fist at Kirin to only have her roll away.
“Juliana, leave her alone.” Jon said standing in Juliana’s way to only get hit to the side as she continued toward Kirin who was now crying and shaking against the wall.
“Juliana! Stop I brought her here so don’t you dare touch her.” Deamon ordered as he stepped into the room from the door way.
“I didn’t know she was yours Deamon? So is she a gift to me because absolutely famished. We could share you get one side I get the other. What do you say?” Juliana said as she slinked towards Deamon with the up most grace.
Juliana wore a black silk dress the flowed around her ankles like an angel. Her eyes had eyes that were cruel looking with on her self to worry about and no one else. Though eyes of hers were brown but should’ve been ice gray instead because of there coldness. Yet what scared Kirin the most was that the vampire Deamon had referred to as Juliana looked like she dyed her hair with blood it was just so red as it hung about her shoulders.
“She’s not dinner and she’s not for you. She’s a guest and should be treated as one. If I find that anyone has hurt her I’ll kill you.” He spoke to her like a child that would be punished for opening the Christmas presents before Christmas.
What am I doing? There vampires!! I can’t stay here; with in being here for a few hours I’ve almost been killed. I have to get serious I’m not a child. Kirin thought as she watched Juliana dangerously ready to take some kind of action if Julian attacked her.
“Deamon you can’t tell me that the smell of her fear makes you lest the bit hungry?” She growled as she got closer to Deamon playing with his ear with her teeth teasing him. Deamon growled at her in a very distinct way of letting Juliana know he wasn’t going to waver or give into her wants.
“Fine.. But sooner or later you’ll give me her when you get bored till then I’ll try to be on my best behavior, to the blood bag.” She growled as her eyes locked on to Kirin’s ambers eyes.
Juliana tiredly left the room going into the kitchen leaving Kirin alone with Jon and Deamon. Kirin was still scared and ready to scream because this was too much for her to handle. The worst situation she could have ever ended up in and here she was in a room with to fairly dangerous vampires. The name Deamon hadn’t clicked till this morning when her brain had started, deamon, one of the vampires on the top ten warning list for hunters.
“Miss Kirin, are you okay? You look a bit shaken up, if you know what I mean?” Jon joked as he got up and started toward her. He looked and acted more human then Juliana or Deamon in the house. His voice was gentle and soothing but Kirin was still warier to him. She wasn’t going to drop her guard now no matter what.
“Well you know when a vampire thinks your food and attacks you how isn’t shaken up after it.” Deamon chinned in with his humor that seemed kind of misplaced in this conversation.
“I want to go home!” Kirin started to cry with her hand by her lower back refusing even know to let her guard down.
Deamons smile turned into a frown automatically as he nervously shifted foot to foot not sure how to react to her emotional state. Jon walked up closely to Kirin to only have her back away trying to keep the distance.
“Your afraid of vampires, are you not? It okay Juliana is hell in a hand basket as long as you stay clear of her, she won’t be able to give you trouble. Deamon on the others had is as harmless as a kitten.” Jon said as he got two feet from her before she stepped back into a corner.
“Jon just leave her to me, I’ll take care of her.” Deamon said trying to shoe him away from Kirin.
“Yeah right you don’t even know how to cook food. I’m not going to leave her alone with you when you could easily give her food poisoning by accident.” Jon said knowing Deamon was mentally throwing a hissy fit because he didn’t say master first and that Deamon knew he was speaking the truth.
“Kirin, are you hungry? I’m sure Jon will cook you something good to eat.” Deamon said was he walked close to Kirin to only have her start crying even more then before making him feel guilty for waking up in his bed instead of by her.
Kirin didn’t say anything as her stomach let out a huge grumble making her look at them clueless about her stomachs agreement. Tears still ran down her face as she watched Jon extend a hand to her. Kirin wasn’t about to take his hand.
“You wont even take my hand if I promise I wont bite you or anything. Your afraid and don’t trust us.. Well think of this we want you to trust us like friends but we wont hurt you promise. Anyways if I wanted to hurt you or hypnotize you we would have already. So please stop crying.” Jon said softly still holding out his hand for her.
Deep down in Deamons mind he wanted to shove Jon away from her after all he’s the one that found her first and there for she should trust him first and foremost. He didn’t like the way Jon was trying to get close to her when it took him two day before she even considers trying to be nice to him with out freaking out and crying. He knew what he was feeling was childish but he couldn’t help it.
“Stay away from me!! I mean it! I’m not food!!” She said under her breath as her right hand moved farther behind her back preparing for anything.
“Fine we won’t touch you but you want to be safe and get breakfast I recommend following us. Come on Deamon.” Jon said as he pushed Deamon out the door way going down the hall.
“What are you doing?” Deamon asked angrily when they were out of ear shot of Kirin standing at the other end of the hall way.
“Well she’s not going to come holding your or my hand so I think she’ll follow us then we can get her feed and then maybe she’ll calm down and talk to us.” Jon said as he looked out of his corner of his eye to the door way.
“I don’t want you to get to close to her.” Deamon ordered quietly as he watched Jon unhappy with his actions.
“Listen. That girl is afraid of vampires!” He growled only getting interrupted by Deamon.
“I know. I’m not stupid!” He growled as he got quiet sulking with in him self.
“Okay now think of this is she only trusts you and you get hungry how do you think she’s gong to react seeing you drink blood? If she trusts us both then you can be feed and she’ll never now or have to see what happens, isn’t that a better idea?” He asked as he gave Deamon a smile. “I know she’s special to you and I’m not trying to still her I’m just trying to help you and protect her. Let head towards the kitchen.” Jon whispered as he put his arm around Deamon shoulder guiding him toward the kitchen.
“Why?” Deamon asked confused.
“Kirin is following. She pretty good as following a human might not notice but vampires sure as well. She’s smart to follow people from a distance. I can barely smell her but her foot steps are noticeable. ” Jon said under his breath as they continued to walk down the hall toward the hall.
“Then why did human chase her into an alley last night?” He asked Jon quietly as there foot steps started to fall silently as they walked.
“What do you mean?” He asked surprised at what Deamon just had divulged to him.
“A bunch of human mean chased her into the alley they had guns and were about to kill her. I don’t know why?” He said quietly as the paused for a seconded were they stood to listen for Kirins movements.
“Well I guess she was just another innocent by stander in a war that has developed all around and she was trying to escape.” Jon said as he pushed open the kitchen door leading to a brightly lit kitchen except for the vampire sitting at the counter waiting for Jon to cook them something. It was kind of obvious that they were all half vampires; they didn’t have the aura of a full vampire and looked weaker then true vampires.
Kirin ducked behind the door frame looking at the half vampires full of fear as she held her silence for a few seconds. Jon walked behind the kitchen counter as the half vampires awed Deamon how has joined them for breakfast.
“Everybody we have a guest so be nice and don’t try to hurt her name. Her names Kirin show your respect.” Jon said as he waited to see if Kirin would come out from hiding when he introduced her but she didn’t move she stayed completely stationary ready for anything.
“Kirin I know your behind the door come out and say hello they wont hurt you. Don’t be afraid.” Deamon said trying to coax her out which worked extremely well she walked into the kitchen with her hand at her hip.
That when she saw him the man that worked at the store that paid half of the money for the blanket. His green hair stood out in her mind as she stood there looking at all the half vampires there must have been thirteen of them.
“I know you. You’re the nice young lady that bought that blanket yesterday. You don’t look so well you look like you’ve seen a ghost.” Franchinzo said worried as he stood up so he could get a better look at her till he heard Deamon let out a small growl that only vampires and half vampires could hear. Franchinzo froze where he stood unsure what to do.
“I didn’t expect to see you here. Last time we were talking you were asking about Veroka?” Franchinzo said cocking his hands on his hips kind of confused.
“Veroka?” Jon and Deamon said at the same time surprised to hear that’s what Kirin was asking about.
“It seems you ended up here. But I can’t tell you that this is a safe place the only thing you should be afraid of is, Juliana she’s psycho. So you said you were trying to go to veroka but were in veroka?” He asked curiously ignoring Deamons attempt trying to scare him.
“I don’t remember I was just trying to go home that’s all.” She said quietly as she shifted uncomfortably.
“Oh! Where’s my manners. You can have my seat so you don’t have to stand. Don’t worry these are my best friends. To my right is Dawn and Rem. There both really nice they wont hurt you unless you pillow fight with them..” He trailed off to only hear Kirin start to snicker a little.
“Doesn’t really matter anymore were I am now as long as I get were I’m going right?” Kirin said with a funny humor in her voice that was surprising since she had been so shaken up just a few moments before.
“Do you like pancakes?” Jon asked as he watched her as she still didn’t smile even though she seemed to have loosened up a little.
“Yea please I haven’t had a thing to eat in three days and pancakes sound wonderful.” Kirin said happily.
To be continued…
