Loss of Individuality

What is it that crushes the will of a man?

What is it that pushes his spine?

What makes him do stupid things

That he’ll regret with time?

It’s pressure from his peers,

The need to be someone he’s not.

He’s weak-willed and weak-minded

Under the pressure to smoke pot.

The want to be conformed

Although he’s in denial

Will all be seen for truth

In his holy trial.

An individual addresses him

About the lie he’ll conceal,

He passes it by, puts it off

With words like, “What’s the big deal?”

The thousand hands beneath him,

Grasp and pull him in,

He seems to become a monster

Flashing his conformist grin.

There’s no trying to save him

He’s gone, without our reach,

He’s lost his individuality,

And there’s a lesson to teach.
