Sanctuary
Sapphire eyes watched on as two small children played before her. The nursery they played in was full of colour and thought, although the twins were far more intelligent than would be expected at their age, they didn’t mind taking an hour – or five, out of their learning to play.
The twins were one of each gender, and were to celebrate their fifth birthday in exactly a week. There would only be five of them attending – as there always was, but the twins parents made sure that they all had fun.
Their mother – with the Sapphire hues had been watching over them both with a very protective eye, and when they had begun to engage in combat at the age of three she had hidden her worries well.
Of course, both the twins were very safe in the hands of both their parents and Aethalia watching over them. Their father was almost always over-keen to teach them everything he knew, and much to both parents delight the children learnt fast.
Watching them now was like seeing any other five year olds playing. They were both currently playing with a wooden train set, the young boy racing around on his knees making train noises as the girl lowered one of the drawbridges on the small set. In frustration at the way his train was so unfairly stopped, the boy sprung onto his sister with almighty force.
His multi-coloured eyes shone brightly as he lunged and that was when their mother sighed, standing to her feet as the twins rolled around on the floor attempting to pin the other down.
“Kyree! Ethan!” She was stood above them now, and Kyree’s actions halted, whereas Ethan continued, and pushed his twin against the floor. Always the disobedient one.
“Ethan Kreisse-Crawford, You’re in trouble boy!”
Her voice echoed with authority, but the look in her eyes told of a childish nature. Leaning over she grabbed her son and pulled him off Kyree, in order to pin him to the floor and tickle him to death. As his mother, she knew the exact places that would make him squirm the most. Soon, the room was filled with the squeals of the boy.
“Mum! No, Gerroffa Me! ARGH! Kyree! HELP!” In reply to his yelpings, Kyree pounced on their mother, forcing them all to tumble to the floor in a pile.
Laughing ensued as they play fought, none of them noticing as the door opened. A tall man, with chocolate brown hair and jade eyes smiled at the commotion, shaking his head as he watched his family. Kyree was attacking Ethan now, and their mother fell to lay on her back beside them, catching her breath, whilst attempting to control her giggles as the new arrival stalked over to her and held out his hand.
“Alisha, Really! Laying about on the floor!”
Her eyebrows furrowed a bit, as she took his hand and pulled him down with her, unable to pin him, for he had already read her thoughts, straddled her waist and was planting kisses in a trail along her neckline, only causing her to squirm, and giggle even more.
The twins paused, an almost disgusted look on their faces as they watched their Father, Ethan fell away from Kyree to sit beside her, before pulling the girl up quickly.
“Oh, Alisha! I love you so!”
Kyree’s eyes widened and she gave a small squeak as her brother kissed her cheek over and over with as much exaggeration as he could muster. Finally playing his game, she sighed lightly.
“Oh! Shion.”
The pair fell apart giggling as their parents took one look and laughed. Life in The Sanctuary had always been this perfect, and Alisha wished it would always be this way. She knew, however, that it would not be the case; Aetherspace was keeping them safe from harm, and was currently doing a good job of it. One day, all four of them would have to go back ‘home’ and things would be different. One day they would be older.
All of them.
