Unspoken Lament
by Raven
A stranger emotion my soul ne’er felt
For my heart faded to a helpless slave,
Upon the merciless decree you dealt,
I cast life away like a foolish knave.
I dare not question your long absent hours,
Nor your coy smiles in dusky eventide,
For flee you will if jealousy flowers,
So what can this servant do but abide?
Ever and anon my weak heart defies
Amidst the waves of your ruthless torment,
Yet with only a glance from azure eyes,
Naught remains save for unspoken lament.
So potent is her presence that fools smile,
Yet a thousand times deceived all the while.
