Right, I should start this off by saying a few things that you really need to hear.

One is that this book is not finished, and won’t be, for a long, long, long time. Actually, I’d be surprised if it was ever really finished, so if you don’t want to read a garunteed unfinished story, wait for the third book to be put up, for that one will be finished, and will probably make sense even if you don’t read book two. Heck, I hope it makes sense as a stand-alone simply so I can (maybe) publish it without having to publish those that come before.

Number two, chapters ten, elven, and parts of twelve of the first section had to be recreated months, maybe even about a year, after this was written, so if it seems a little incoherent or of a different style or something than the rest, now you know why.

Three, this first section was actually originally created as a piece simply for me, so I’d know what happened in between book 1 and 2. Only later I realized you kinda need to know some of that stuff to understand bits of book two, or at least, I think so, and even if not, you guys will prolly get a kick out of it, even if it sucks really bad.

Four, I’m probably not going to bother trying to make the first and second parts any more cohesive than they already are, partially because part one is so bad, and partially because there’s only a couple weeks difference. By the way, if you don’t want to read the first section, you could always skip it and wait until I put up the second section, which was actually where it was originally designed to start.

Five, this book, on the whole, is bad, the worst of the series, which may not mean anything to those of you who love my writing, seeing as I think number one also sucks, just not as bad as this one (hence why I have no plans of finishing this book.).

But anyway, to those of you who really liked book one, I hope you like this one too, for while I’ve just gone through all the ways this book sucks, I know of at least one person who’s read it and has wished for more of it.

Oh, and brownie points to anyone who actually reads this and all of the story that will come later, for I don’t think I would, if I were you :) but that’s mostly because I hate reading stuff I know will never be completed.

Anyway, another huge THANK YOU to all my reviewers, and I hope I haven’t/won’t disappoint with the stuff that’s here and that is to come.

-Prologue-

“This morning at nine local time a farmer in south west Kansas looked outside his window only to see a large electrical green dome a few miles south of him. Scientists, mapmakers, and others are all confused and baffled as to its sudden appearance, and have no explanation for how such a large object could appear literally overnight.

The Pentagon has refused to comment, but we have just heard that the President has scheduled a press conference to take place in two hours to answer questions about this thing’s sudden appearance.

Meanwhile thoughts are circulating the US as to how many more of these things there are, and how many are going to appear, and where.”

Tao closed the connection on the mirror and smiled. Art was elsewhere, probably at lunch, and after living with elves for over a year, was actually quite comfortable around them, and them around him.

The elves knew that they’d have to get used to humans, and that’s probably why he got a better reception than I ever did. “This is working better than I thought.”

I sighed. “There’s mass panic, how can you say-?”

“Because that will all end once the dome comes down.”

“How can you be so sure? How are people going to react to a city full of elves suddenly appearing out of nowhere?”

“Why the sudden change of heart on this plan?”

I sighed. “I’m just running over worst case scenarios: we can’t assume that many, if any, will take kindly to us being here.”

“Hey, we own this property by your laws...”

“...That’s another thing, because we own this land, I’m wondering if anyone will agree to us being our own country.”

He shrugged. “We can always buy property elsewhere and move the compound, even if it would take a lot of work.”

I nodded and sighed. “True, but all the work we spent into making this place desirable with our gifts would be wasted.”

He nodded. “Which is why we hope for the best.”

I sighed again. “I guess we’ll have to.”
