The Silent Observer

The silent observer listens from afar

Your life is uncovered

While you sit in that chair

Everything is seen and everything is heard

But what is the meaning of all that I said

The silent observer does nothing at all

Motionless, blending into the wall

We stop and we think

But no thoughts occur

About the silent observer

Who listens, or so we’ve heard

A thought goes astray

And its cover is lost

The silent observer is without its mask

We laugh and we point

We gasp and we giggle

But the silent observer is lost to it all

And then as if nothing

It sneaks on back

Motionless blending into the wall
