It’s the place you fear

The shadows that cry out

But for some reason, no one else hears

Lurking in the minds of every little girl and boy

A shadow, haunting their every thought

And you’re so weak, to them a mere toy

One moment, red eyes stare out at you

And hands grasped your feet

But it’s not true

The sounds that echo in the night

Make us want to hide

To reach out and turn on the light

But you’re gripped by fear

And desperately trying to ignore

Do you believe your end is near?

Minds play tricks on our eyes

So when the lights go out

What we see are lies

Shadows dance

Too close for comfort, and there’s a creaking sound

You feel that for escape, there is no chance

Because in the dark

All hope is lost

And the nightmares leave their ever-lasting mark
