Authors Note: I submit this poem for you to read. Please note that this poem is rated ‘PG’. For the people who read it please review when you’re finished.
AN: I actually really like this poem (especially the last verse). I went around muttering it to myself for the whole day (I warned you about the state of my sanity). I really like that verse. Is it just me or do you people like it too?
The People Of My Kind
Why should I live here
When across the line
In the shadows of
My mind
Lies the deep dark recesses
Of my idealism?
Of my imagination?
The edge is thin there
The air so much clearer
The views are superior
The words feel truer
The lies are gone forever
In my mind
And when I go there
In the shadows of
My mind
The people of my kind
Welcome me
Open arms embrace me
The feeing of belonging
Rings like the echoes
Of bells across my mind
So I want to stay
Where the wind will
Caress me with their
Broken hands of Time
The leaves will
Lift me high without
Reason nor rhyme
The water will
Dance for me smelling
Of lemon and lime
And the people of my kind
Will let me
Stay the night
In the shadows of
My mind
The people of my kind
Will let me
Stay the night
