The water is still

Gentle waves marring the mirrored surface

Laughing, she runs in the water

Carefree and splashing, she runs

-'-

Deep in the depths of the ocean,

He watches her, and wants

He covets her laughter

He yearns for her joy

-'-

She floats on the surface

Smiling as the softly lapping water caresses her

She is carried out ever farther

Unknowingly, blissful

-'-

He draws her in like a lover

Softly and gently, with tender touches

Wrapping her ever tighter in silken ropes

Soon she will be fast in his hold

-'-

But something wakes her from her daydream

The daze disappears; she wakes

And looks out, and sees

She is being carried away

-'-

Quick to act, she strikes out in long strokes

She has her freedom

She will not be caged and made to sing

She swims to shore

-'-

Despairing, he tries one last seduction

But she sees through the sweet crystal water

And his attempt grants her more time

She has not far to go

-'-

Panicked, he gathers all his powers

Mayhem he unleashes on the world

She moves through the water like an arrow

And he sees her slipping away

-'-

The tumultuous rage of an angry god

A furious froth of sea and sound

Roaring, he reaches

But grasps only sand

-'-

In gentle lappings of sea on sand

A sibilant echo of violent rage

He waits in the shelter of the water

For another girl on another day
