A/N: Thanks for reviewing you guys! Here comes chapter 3!

“Anöuk, are you okay?” Mike asked her nervously. Once he had told her the effects of the curse, she had turned stonily ahead and just stared blankly at the football team.

“Anöuk?” he said again.

However, he was unable to continue his conversation with her. The rest of the band had appeared; sixth period was over. Mike sighed and walked to the top of the bleachers with his guitar and amp and sat there, still keeping an eye on Anöuk.

The fact that he knew one of the two other people who had Aginoloms was still forming in his mind. Of course, he thought to himself, she has all the signs of the physical effects of Aginoloms: the silver streaks of hair, the exhausted look, it all makes sense.

Mike had known about his disease since he was ten, so he had grown numb to the idea that he would have a short life. He had become the perfect son to his parents, never argued and constantly told them how much he loved them. He had tried to fulfill his life dreams (the ones that were in reach) before he turned seventeen. He had flown in a fighter plane with his uncle, had traveled around Europe, and had learned how to drive. However, his final dream had still not been accomplished, and he had begun to think that he would never be able to get it, since his birthday was less than two months away. He would never know what it was like to be in love.

The rest of the band had arrived and were all ready to play for the Tiger’s game. Ms. Goldbloom had raised her arms, signaling the band to get into ready position. Mike turned his amp on and got his fingering right on his guitar. Ms. Goldbloom took a deep breath and began moving her arms in a conducting fashion. The band began to play the school’s fight song, Hungry Tigers, as the football team came charging out onto the field. Mike began playing his guitar, but wasn’t paying attention to it. He had just noticed that Anöuk wasn’t playing.

Anöuk was sitting in the front row corner, staring out at the sky, and muttering to herself. Neither Ms. Goldbloom nor the rest of the band took any notice, luckily. Every once in a while, Anöuk would pull on a strand of her silver strands and would sometimes look up to where Mike was sitting. She had a troubled look on her face and her eyes had become more of a silver hint to it. To Mike, she looked as though she was turning to silver, for that was the color of everything she was.

The conductor stopped the band from playing and they resumed watching the Tigers play verse the Greenmont Hawks. Mike tore his eyes of the strange girl and tried to watch the game, and of course, the Tigers were loosing badly even though it was only the first quarter.

They played a few more songs and watched a few more touchdowns by the Hawks till they were spared the humility by a halftime. The band played the school fight song once more and then was excused by the teacher to have a ten minute break. Immediately, Mike put his guitar down and turned off his amp. He jumped to his feet and walked down the bleachers to reach the spot where Anöuk was, still murmuring to herself.

Mike sat down next to her and she stopped muttering.

“Hey.” he said.

“Hi.” she replied softly.

“What have you been muttering throughout the game?”

She looked at him, somewhat cautiously. “I want to find the cure.”

Mike looked at her astonished at what he was hearing. “The cure? The cure for Aginoloms? Are you insane?”

“Yes, yes and probably.” she answered quickly. “But you know, I think I could. I’m really good at figuring out clues and I’m willing to try. Wouldn’t you rather die knowing that you did something instead of knowing that you just sat back and waited for Aginoloms’ curse to swallow you?”

Mike hung his head. She was right, but what she was saying was insane! How could two dying teens find a cure for a curse that’s been around for thousands of years, never the less in two month’s time? It just couldn’t be done!

“Look,” she said, looking him directly in the eye, “Even if you don’t want to find the cure with me, I’m going, but I need your help with finding the book and helping me figure where it is. Can you at least do that?”

He looked right at her, silver to silver, curse to curse. He knew this was important to her and to him. So there was only one choice.

“Alright.” He said, bowing his head in defeat. “I’ll do it.”

She smiled brightly and said, “Thanks. Meet me at the library where you found the book at four tonight. We need to get started immediately.”
