Through God's Eyes
The Hallways went silent,
As people began to stare,
They'd make whispering noises,
Behind her back,
As if they'd ever care.
She stumbled into a locker,
The others made a roar,
They laughed and pointed her out,
As if she was a whore.
The first bell sounded,
As students rushed to class,
Her scattered books along the hall,
Were crushed like a piece of glass.
And as she tried to find her books,
A tap came on her shoulder,
A familiar voice said to her,
I'll be your book holder.
The friend picked her up,
And steadied her on her legs,
He could tell from her morning,
It was going to be one of those days.
Don't you get angry at them?
He asked out of the blue,
Aren't you sick of the way,
The way they treat you?
How can I be angry,
When they don't know?
They were given blessings,
and just go with the flow.
It's not fair, he replied,
As they continued down the halls,
They were given the sight to see,
and you, no sight at all.
The girl lifted her head,
And tried her best to find his eyes,
In a confident voice,
she replied,
While I may not see the outside,
With my damaged eyes,
I can see the inside,
Through God's eyes.
