Yellow Slip

They give us

this ugly

yellow

slip. And they tell us

that it will

save us.

They tell us we

need it. They keep

it – they want it

chained

to us. It is our

life.

That ugly

yellow slip.

-- Now for those not from my school probably don’t understand this much. When we miss a day of school, we get an Admin. Slip the next day, if we have a note, they mark an unexcused absence. If not, well, that sucks. But it really is an ugly, pale yellow color. We have to show it to all our teachers and be like “bah, I was out, see?” though my history teacher always tells everyone to go away when we try to show him it. But it really is like it’s our chains. Humbug. What an ugly, yellow slip…
