A/N: Yay! People actually enjoyed this story. And I’m glad, because I am quite excited about where this should go. Now all we gotta do is get there. I have a feeling that this isn’t going to be a very long story. Why, you may ask? Well, once the big thing happens, it’s over. Although I could go on and maybe do a sequel or something, if you want. But once it happens, it’s over.
Cherise: You win the first reviewer award -hands you big shiny sticker- Congrats! And yes I can too have cliffhangers…nyah xP Besides, the last chapter will be the biggest cliffhanger of all…so get ready.
Irish Fairy: Glad you think it’s interesting! Thank you for the review -hands a sticker-
Catt: I will try to update as soon as I can, but school is stupid, you know…gotta make sure I pass this year. And thank you for putting me on author alert and stuff! -gives sticker-
I think I’ll give out a different present each time, because I can. This chapter’s were stickers. Enjoy them…they’re nifty and a half. I’m also going to not use ‘oh’ so much…used it like 3 times last chapter. Oops. Anyways, on to chapter…whatever chapter this is!
This is going to seem rather stupid yet again. We have to introduce everyone, now don’t we? Maybe we’ll have some fun in the next chapter.
Disclaimer: Characters still mine. I don’t own Justin Timberlake…he just seemed to fit perfectly in there. And I don’t own Jell-O.
The Right Side of Wrong
Chapter Two: Captain Whatshisface
So many things fluttered through Melody’s mind as she sat there, gawking. What was wrong with her? She was never like this. And now, she was acting like a thirteen-year-old who had just seen Justin Timberlake.
Half of her wanted to go inside and forget that she had ever seen this guy. For all she knew, he could have been a druggie, or already had a girlfriend.
However, the other half that wanted to stay and watch defeated the other half, so she stayed and watched. Something then suddenly reminded her that there was one important aspect she was forgetting, one important, brunette aspect; Alexander.
Quickly shutting her book, she darted inside the door before the mystery guy could see her staring. Leaning against the door, Melody tossed the book aside, trying to settle her mind.
It wasn’t that she didn’t absolutely love Alexander. In her mind, she envisioned the whole white picket fence, little house on the nice street scene, sipping lemonade on the hot summer days, and watching the stars on the cool fall nights.
But something about that other guy just called out to her. She didn’t even know his name yet, and here she was drooling over him. That’s when a lovely little idea popped into her head.
Dashing into the kitchen, Melody threw open the cupboards, looking for something. What, you ask? Jell-O. She was going to pull the ‘welcome wagon’ routine and find out a little more about this guy, and what better way to do it than offering Jell-O. It worked on TV, why wouldn’t it work now?
As she rummaged, she let out a exasperated sigh; they were out of Jell-O. How was she supposed to put her plan into action now? Then, her eye caught something that closely resembled a box of Jell-O. Reaching for it, and smiling triumphantly, Melody examined the box, only to find that it was not what she had been looking for.
Instead, she had grabbed a box of instant chocolate pudding. Close enough, right? Plus, it took five minutes to make. It was perfect. Melody then began to prepare the pudding, putting it in the refrigerator to chill once she was done.
After ‘patiently’ waiting for five minutes, she removed the bowl, and headed back outside. She retrieved her flip flops, and made sure her hair was fine before peering down the street once more.
The movers were busy unloading the moving truck, while the parents were nowhere to be seen. The mystery guy, who Melody had affectionately nicknamed Captain Whatshisface, was sitting on a couch in the middle of the front yard, looking quite bored and half-asleep.
Slowly, yet quickly at the same time, she approached the house, running different things to say through her mind.
Before she knew it, she was about ten feet from the Captain. He still hadn’t noticed her yet. She took a few more steps forward; still nothing. As she got close to being just a foot away, she gently cleared her throat in an attempt to awaken him; it worked. Too well.
The Captain jumped slightly, causing Melody to jump as well. And as she jumped, she lost her grip on the bowl. The bowl, in turn, did a couple of turns mid-air, and miraculously landed right side up in his lap.
This then caused him to start laughing, while Melody’s face turned a shade of pink, followed by laughter of her own.
After they were finished laughing, the Captain lifted the somewhat cold bowl out of his lap, and held it out to Melody. “Is this yours?” he asked, obviously knowing the answer to that question.
Melody was about to answer in the affirmative, but changed her mind, shaking her head no. “Actually, it’s for you.” That felt quite stupid to say, but she had said it anyway.
The Captain looked at the bowl, then to Melody, then back to the bowl.
Melody thought that maybe he thought she had poisoned it or something of the like. However, out of nowhere, he stuck a finger in, sticking it in his mouth; a satisfied smile crossed his face after a few moments.
He then removed his finger, so he could talk, “Hey, this is good. Thanks…umm…I don’t think that I caught your name.”
Melody smiled at the fact that he enjoyed the little present, and then answered simply, “I’m Melody.”
“Melody…that’s a nice name,” he replied, still smiling, “I’m Owen. Nice to meet you,” he said, sticking his hand out; as he remembered that that hand had just been in his mouth, he quickly switched them.
Melody laughed, and took his hand, shaking it. “It’s nice to meet you as well, Owen,” she replied, thinking that his name was rather cute.
As the two remained staring at each other with rather large smiles on their faces, neither of them heard footsteps approaching.
It wasn’t until a deep voice had cleared their throat did the pair notice the slightly pissed-off looking brunette standing there.
A/N: Ha. Another cliffhanger. Sorry to Cherise and others xD
