A/N: Okay I have to say that this story takes place in the same world as An Elf’s Quest. But it is 157 years AFTER An Elf’s Quest. And no, you don’t really need to read An Elf’s Quest to totally understand what’s going on. It pretty much tells you edited tales throughout the whole thing.

Reawakening Legends

Prologue

Rumors were flying in every camp, no matter which nation they belong to. Rumors of the final battle. The chaos of their world may yet to end, according to the majority of all fighters and messengers.

But not all who heard truly believed. Many of the commanders especially those who were and commanding mortals, assumed the rumors of the chaotic end were just a hoax planted by enemy immortals.

And it was said that the last strike made by anyone would be made in only a day’s time.

Over the vast expanse of the ravaged battlefields the leading commander of the small faction of people called Battlemages looked over her maps once again with her generals.

“But Commander, if we advance upon the left wing of the dwarves, it would alert the Dark Elf Queen of our whereabouts.” One of the elder generals pointed out.

The Commander remained silent as another one of her own replied, “And if we don’t, our allies, the Light Elves, will have to divide their own forces.”

Another, somewhat younger than the other two came out and said, “Let them do their own dirty work for a change. We’ve done enough for them.”

The Commander leaned forward, her arms atop the table map, successfully cutting anyone else from saying anything more. She looked at each of her five generals and then said, “They count on us for the use of offense their new way of living does not allow them fully. They are trying to be more civil with their magics. We pledged our forces with Queen Firestar and I refuse to break away when she needs us most.” Commander Ananke said firmly, her blue-green eyes flashing. She dared them to continue, but none did.

Silence settled over her people around the table.

“What will you have us do then, Commander?” one of them broke the silence with his questioning voice.

She turned her gaze to him and then said for all, “I’m sure you have heard the final strike rumors,” they all nodded, though cautiously, “Well, they are completely true,” gasps in varying volumes rang through the tent they were in.

Ananke settled back in her chair, a smug look on her face.

“Gentlemen, we are assisting in that final strike. Gather up your troops. We leave in an hour’s time.” She said in a commanding tone.

The Sorceress Sh’arra Rie entered her Commander’s tent. She did it reluctantly, not wanting to draw much excitement to herself. But she had news to deliver, and deliver it she would. The news she carried could mean the end to all they knew, or the answer to all prayers.

“Sh’arra, what brings you to me?” her Commander looked up from his various maps.

She nodded her head and coming to attention she said, “I have brought you news from Queen Tamats.”

The Commander raised an eyebrow and dismissed all who else that was inside the tent. The two were alone now; the news was that important.

“Well, what news is this?”

“The final strike is set to be executed in just a day. Our presence is expressly requested by the Faerie Queen as well as Queen Firestar of the Light Elves.” Sh’arra said.

“We must prepare then,” the Commander said at once. “You are dismissed of any duties, but be ready to leave at any notice,” he said.

Sh’arra nodded and left as orders were barked for the other officers.

“My queen,” a bodyguard knelt, her right palm over her heart. Her partner did the same beside her and they waited to be acknowledged.

“Rise Seaflame, Coree. Tell what news you bring.” Queen Firestar said, her voice gentle, yet tired.

“Queen Tamats Palike Tamoyeke and Pudicito Twosouls has arrived. They bring the rest of the information we are in need of.” Seaflame said, rising to her feet once again. A hand loosely settled upon the hilt of the broadsword at her hip.

Queen Firestar nodded, “Then ready our troops and prepare to move out soon.”

“Yes my queen,” Seaflame said.

“Firestar, your sister, your enemy, knows of this tactic we are preparing to take. And we have reports that Darkrose is taking measures or preparing her own attack,” Tamats the Queen of Faeries said.

Firestar nodded sadly, “I see.”

The bodyguard, Pudicito Twosouls, that had accompanied the Faerie Queen took one step forward and said, “But this development will change nothing. The Dark Elves may know of our new tactics, but they have yet to discover our alliances with the small factions of the Battlemages and Sorcerers.”

“But it is only a matter of time.” Firestar pointed out.

“Yes, but may I point out that they will find this out during the final strike we are initiating if we make our move soon?” Pudicito said.

Both of the queens nodded in agreement with the bodyguard’s words.

“Let’s move out,” Firestar said.

The Dark Elf Silentdeath made his way to his queen very reluctantly. He absolutely hated bringing attention to himself. But he had an update on their enemies’ movements, and he was the only one who knew.

The bodyguards let him pass when he reached the queen’s tent and bowed deeply upon entering. He went down on one knee, his open hand across his heart, his head bowed.

A minute passed before he heard, “Rise my messenger and tell me what news you bring,” his queen said, her gaze now resting on him.

Silentdeath rose to his feet once again, “My queen, I bring you news from past our front lines,” he said.

“Speak then.” Queen Darkrose encouraged. She sat back against her chair, her elbows resting on the chair arms, her hands draped across her lap.

“The Light Queen and the Faerie Queen have begun to advance, coming towards us,” he said and the queen just simply nodded so he continued, “I have also discovered that the Demon Queen with only a fourth of her own troops is also advancing this way, coming up from the east.”

“Has there been any other movements by anyone else?” the queen inquired.

Silentdeath hesitated, not quite shifting his weight from foot to foot.

“Silentdeath?” she raised an eyebrow at him, her dark blue eyes calculating.

“It has been reported that very small factions, broken off from the Mages, are allied with the Faeries and your sister,” he said, his voice still calm, but just a tiny bit softer.

Darkrose was surprised, but hid most of it. She looked away from her subject, her mind already miles away.

“My queen?” Silentdeath’s voice was hesitant, but it broke her out of her thoughts for the moment. She looked at him again.

“You are dismissed. If you come across any more information, no matter how trivial it seems, bring it to me,” his queen said.

He nodded and with one last deep bow he took his leave. As he walked away from his queen’s tent he heard the barked orders, “Prepare for battle. Ready everyone. Have everyone report to their positions within two hours.”
