Yohshimatsu

The Heavy Combat (HC) Squads of the Techcracy Police Department were suiting up, they had been called to bomb scare at a plasma powerplant on the edge of the city, someone had planted a large bomb on the magnetic containment field generators, and bigger one on the main reactor.

Captain Lee Yoh, HC Squad 3’s commander, was buckling on his final piece of armour and charging his storm sabre before turning and addressing his squad,

“Squad 3, we have been tasked with securing and defusing the Mag-Con generator whilst Squad 1 takes out the reactor, due to the fact that I have both more training and more experience in bomb disposal I have been ordered to defuse the bomb. Any Questions? No? Good, Move out!” He said, before turning and leading his men out to the half tracked HC transport, bound for the powerplant.

---

“They’re on there way” said a voice from the shadows

“Our insider knows what to do?” came a deeper voice, there was a conformation from the first voice, “Good, take your men and defend the bombs, we don’t want to make this too easy for them”

“Yes sir”

“Oh, and take the hostages out front, wait for the HC to arrive, then kill the hostages, that aught to get the Ball rolling”

“Sir, Yes sir”

---

“Approaching target” came the driver’s voice, “ETA 3 minutes”

Lee gave a nod to his troops, “Helmets on, Sabres ready, Stand by”

The troops placed their helmets on their heads and sealed them, and then they checked their storm sabres, checking the power cells were full.

Then the driver’s voice sounded over the radio, “My god, they’ve got hostages, they’re parading them at the front of the plant. Oh shit! They’re shooting them, they’re killing the hostages, confirmed weapons discharge, standard pattern lightning dirks, and one modified thunder gladius”

Lee thought for a second, then radioed the driver, “Initiate a skid drop, we’ll try for a long range attack”

“Negative” came the driver “I’ll get you in closer before I drop you, hold on” then he began to accelerate towards the terrorists, the HC squad prepared themselves to disembark.

The transport skidded around 180 degrees, the rear opening, the sides sliding outwards and the roof lifting to give the HC troops room to disembark. As they left the transport they activated their storm sabres, electricity dancing along the length of the blade, heating it up and energising it. The troopers fell upon the terrorists like a great wave, slicing through their feeble armour easily, getting just paint scrapes from those who had reacted fast enough to attempt a counterattack.

The Squads headed to their targets, Squad 1 to the reactor, Squad 2 held the entrance and Squad 3 went in the direction of the Mag-Con generator.

Lee and his squad cleared out the terrorists trying to defend the bomb and Lee stationed his troops at the entrances as he turned of his comms to concentrate on defusing the bomb.

He opened the covering to find a maze of circuits and wires all arranged around a plasma core, he began following the wires, concentrating on finding which ports corresponded to what function, what was confusing him was that this was a Police demolitions bomb, though it had been heavily modified and Lee was finding it difficult to figure out the internal structure of the device.

He was so focused on his work that he failed to hear the sound of a storm sabre firing 7 times; he didn’t hear seven bodies crumple to the ground, or the footsteps coming towards him. Something tapped his shoulder, breaking his concentration and causing him to turn round, only to get a punch in the face that cracked his lenses, blurring the figure who had thrown the punch. He tore off his helmet, drawing his spark dagger sidearm, only to see Rob Vaskes, his own second in command standing over him, helmet off, rubbing his knuckles.

“What the?” began Lee but was cut off by Rob,

“Awww, does the poor captain not understand? Don’t worry Lee, you will, before the end” he said, squatting down to face level with the sitting captain

Lee began to slash at Vaskes with the dagger but Rob smacked it away,

“Tut, tut, such temper” said Rob, chuckling slightly

“What the hell is going on here? What is the meaning of all this?” Asked Lee, gesturing to the corpses of his squad, at Rob and at the bomb

Rob chuckled some more, “This? This is only the beginning Lee, there is a change coming Lee, and we already know you would not follow it, you would be loyol to the old ways, so, we need you removed” he explained

“We?”

Rob unbuckled his arm armour and revealed a tattoo on his shoulder, a white circle with a red bar through it and a blue bar going behind the circle

“The Divine Order? A religious organisation is going to stage a coup?” exclaimed Lee incredulously

“The religion is a façade, we are a group devoted to change, a change from the corrupt and senile government we have at the moment” Rob spat, venomously

Lee tried to get up, but Rob pushed him back down, “no, you stay there, bye, bye now” he said, and with that he pulled a detonator from a pocket and left the room, pressing it and tossing it back to Lee as the door slammed shut and a five second counter began on the bomb. Lee was almost halfway to the door when the plasma demolition bomb exploded, destroying the Mag-Con systems and generator, the explosion lifted Lee off the ground and smashed him into the wall, shrapnel severing his right leg and piercing his arms, the blow by the wall causing his world to go black forever as his spinal cord was severed from his brain by a broken panel.

Ironically, if Vaskes hadn’t left the room he might have survived, but in the corridors the super heated plasma from the destroyed reactor, and that from the containment chambers rushed along at great speeds, He never even got a chance to scream as his body liquefied in an instant.
