Wilderness King

Snowy forests and barren peaks

Savage rivers and halcyon lakes

Land where the lonely wind speaks

Pines whisper and the aspen shakes

---

Nightly darkness softly falls

The moon rises giving silver light

A haunting voice then calls

Floating above the pristine white

---

A ghostly song of the wild

Melody of joy and of sorrow

Song of Freedom’s child

Pitch ranging from high to low

---

From the trees it glides with grace

Lean and lithe with coat of smoke

Able to vanish without a trace

Flying along at a tireless lope

---

Fine head with pointed ears

Eyes ice blue pale

Sharp muzzle and fangs man fears

Teeth and tongue that black lips veil

---

Creature of myth and ancient lore

The wolf, the wilderness king

May we hear forever more

Your song from the mountains ring
