Anticipation

It’s a disease in the mind,
A parasite decomposing the soul,
Pumping vicious poison;
This is anticipation.

Waiting, wanting, dreaming,
All from a privileged shell,
An expectation of ambition;
This is anticipation.

Forcing yourselves to succeed,
To chase after and hound,
Until it’s your mind that’s been tightly wound,
Coiled, and twisted and sickened;
This is anticipation.
