A Mere Glimpse
Darkness fall and settles down
Will you light a candle,
Let the gleam chase it away?
o-o-o
The murky streams along her cheeks
Cascading tears tinged with black
Her mask washed out by the pain inside
Out rampaging like a turbulent sea
The strength she wears:
...A purity of black from head to toe
...Lips, a blackened crimson
...Eyes lined with the same black
Wears away as she cries out the pain
Looking, staring at the mirror
Her weakness mimicked by a similar face
Slurring as she does the same
How irritating to watch the broken reflection!
She grabs a bottle, hurls it to the copy-cat
The image shatters, falls into shards
She picks up a pointy one
Sits in the corner, stares down at her wrist
One deep cut will end it all
But one cut will chain her more
o-o-o
He slams the door on his mother’s face
Cursed the woman begging for his embrace
He grew apart from this woman
As though she never carried him in her womb
As though it never pained her to see him this way
He curses on with a sullen face
As he opens a portal to a world of games
He’s always right; he never misses a thing
If so, how come there’s a woman crying at his door?
The anger repeats in his mind replete with her caring words
He rejects the truth and her protection
He thinks he’s good enough and able to stand alone
A ridiculous indulgence to his self-centeredness
He drags it here in this on-line game
Where he rules and conquers all
But in the real world, he never lived at all
He shut the door, escaping reality
But he shut the door, escaped to an illusive world
o-o-o
She fingers the bruise on the corner of her lips
As she studies her image on the knife
His disastrous hands haunt her mind
While another voice repeats its call:
“No woman deserves to be degraded like this
Like a rag doll slammed on the wall
‘Til she’s made of nothing but filth
Go seek your vengeance,
Claim the justice in your hands.”
It was the call she takes heed
A call of a faceless enemy
She looks over her shoulder
Heads on to her sleeping husband
She watches his chest rise and fall
Pictured it bathing with blood
To think is far from her grasp
She readies herself to stab
But...
Love tugs hard with anger on the other end
Her hand shakes and lost its will
She backed away, melts on the floor
And cries desperately
She aches to find a way to cease the madness
She wanted to stop but she doesn’t know how
It was never easy
o-o-o
A mere glimpse among the millions
Lives that shatter away, scatters into space
No, it was never easy to pick up the pieces
The blessed children speak the loudest:
“Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.” (1)
“Jesus will light your way.” (2)
But can a blessed child speak to their kind
With an utmost pride?
A mere glimpse among the millions
Where we belong is just a tiny piece of the world
o-o-o
In the seclusion, within my realm
I stared at the midnight sky
Thinking...
What will I do if it was me?
The stars burn on as I look far
Their faces burn on like these stars
My lips are pursed
Can't utter a word
All I can mutter is a single prayer:
"Jesus, light their ways;
Take hold of their hearts."
Words you could throw away
But 'tis a faith will not sway
My lips are pursed
Can't utter a word
But with my hands unbound
I can utter more...
o-o-o
Our days, our lives
Ours to keep, ours to love
You can rule it
You can make it
Or be your own God
But life is a borrowed grace
Bestowed on your feet
It’s yours to keep
But it’s His to take
Pit falls filled
Thorns on your way
This is life
And one will never know
When is the time
Your life is yours to keep
But is it how you want it?
Now is all we have,
Will you let go and give up?
We are…
People of different race
Believers of different faith
Non-believers breathing in the same space
But you belong, you are not alone
I, a human, no different to what you are
Your needs are no different from mines…
A heart that beats, a soul that fills
A piece of my soul is all Ican give
And words I was given to share
You are not alone in this fight
Our days one day will end
But our days will one day exist
In a place where there will be no walls
A place where all belongs…
These...
Words you could throw away
But 'tis a faith will not sway
With my hands unbound
I can utter more...
o-o-o
A mere glimpse among the millions
Lives that shatter away, scatters into space
No it was never easy to pick up the pieces
But in the absence of the light,
Will you light a candle,
Light up their ways,
Let theflame chase the dark away?
Will you love them, at least?
Strangers as they were
Beings of no meaning to me
But love they taught and asked of me
o-o-o
You who looks this way,
Will you take them,
Love them at least?
